I think I'll give Vispring a try, although I can't seem to find any local stores that stock the mattress you mentioned. Would appreciate if you have any sources on this. I've not read anything in particular about horsetail hair being good or bad so will need to look into this. I stopped looking around once I discovered Hypnos, thinking they were decent enough and bought into their whole Alpaca range. One example is the Vispring Herald (Oxford in US), which I really liked. Have you looked at anything with horsetail hair? It seems like one of the best materials for firm mattresses and it's supposed to be extremely durable. I'll be going for another visit so will pay close attention now that you've mentioned it. However, the one I mentioned in my post seemed to have good side support but granted I wasn't focusing on this too much. I know when tried the fixed toper type, it felt uncomfortable on the sides. They seem to promoting their hand side stitching/tufting aspects of their mattresses a lot so I figured this a positive. My understanding is side stitching plays a role in mattress durability: the stitches go deep into the mattress through the springs and other layers and back out to hold everything together to the sides. Yea, Hastens seemed like the Lamborghinis of the mattress world lol. Pretty jealous, you can buy this stuff without paying to ship across the planet and who knows what in import costs. Natural materials can shift and compress, so you're supposed to flip them regularly and I've even heard of people "fluffing" their mattress as if it were a pillow. Īlso, I get the impression these beds are higher maintenance than typical beds. My only slight hesitation with Hypnos is from pictures and videos it looks like some models leave quite a bit of space between side stitches, sometimes making the sides look uneven or loose-fitting. The royal warrant thing is pretty cool and there's much less price premium than Vispring or especially Hastens. I haven't been able to try Hypnos since there are no dealers near me. No direct experience unfortunately but here's a bunch of random thoughts lol.
